Associate Farm Manager - Application Deadline January 31, 2025

MAFPG currently has two employees including a full-time Farm Manager and part-time Marketing & Communications Specialist. With increased volunteer support and land access for diversified specialty crop vegetable and fruit production, MAFPG is in an exciting time of capacity building at Forward Garden (7492 W Old Sauk Rd, Verona, WI). Forward Garden is MAFPGs’ largest garden location with 12 acres available for specialty crop production and a new 2,100sq ft greenhouse to extend our growing season beginning in the spring of 2025. The Associate Farm Manager will be an integral part of MAFPGs’ future success and will be relied upon for knowledge, leadership, and passion for cultivating community-level nutrition security. This is a valuable learning and networking opportunity that offers an intern the chance to join an organization with 23 years of experience producing high quality, nutritious, culturally relevant produce for our neighbors in Dane County, WI. Interns can expect to gain hands-on skills in vegetable and fruit production, small scale farming techniques, volunteer coordination and youth outreach through work at Forward Garden located at 7492 W. Old Sauk Road in the Town of Middleton, WI; and occasionally at member gardens. This position offers up to 35 hours/week for 12 weeks between May and September (start and end dates flexible).

Intern can expect to gain hands-on skills in vegetable and fruit production, small scale farming techniques, soil health, volunteer coordination and youth education at the Lacy Garden, 5897 Whalen Road, Fitchburg, WI. This is a part-time, limited-term position for up to 20 hours/week for 12 weeks (240 total hours) between May and September.
