Madison Christian Community Garden
|
The Madison Christian Community (MCC) is located at 7118 Old Sauk Road on approximately 7 acres of land donated by retiring farmers in the late 1960’s. Almost immediately some of the land became community gardens for people in the neighborhood and church members. In 2001, the Food Pantry Garden was added. The food pantry garden includes a hoop house and areas for growing vegetables, raspberries, strawberries, asparagus, flowers, herbs, rhubarb and fruit trees. The garden provides 5,000-6,000 pounds of food that is delivered to Madison west side food pantries. In addition, the garden provides produce for the Lussier Community Education Center and Chrysalis Pops (a non-profit that provides vocational mental health services). MAFPG is excited to welcome MCC into its network of gardens this year!
